abstract = "The municipality of Alta Floresta Mato Grosso was busy in the 70s,
and by human activities led to the change of the native forest of
the Amazon forest. Thus it is essential to monitor the situation
through the use of geotechnology and scientific studies. The
objective of this research was to carry out an environmental
analysis of vegetation cover and land use of the watershed
Mariana, responsible for municipal water supply, by imaging
satellite Landsat 8 by OLI sensor for the year 2016, the date July
31 through path 227 row 067. For the image processing used the
ArcGIS software version 10.3 and their respective tools. Performed
the composition of the bands 4, 3 and 2 and then selected the
limits of the watershed and unsupervised classification started
the same, generating 4 classes to be worked. As also produced a
map of hydrography and springs and other permanent preservation
area classification.Since the city was busy there was less
vegetation that had 25.44% of the total area, 21.90% areas of
pasture, grazing degrades 28.90% and 23.75% exposed soil. The
watershed has a total area of 6,500.25 hectares, containing 85
springs and 924.05 hectares of permanent preservation areas,
requiring the recovery of 30.47% that are degraded. It is
concluded that to reduce this state of degradation must have
environmental awareness, especially by the owners of these areas
of APP mainly with the function of protecting the springs and
                         watercourses.",
